FAQs

Is Alphaletz compliant with Making Tax Digital?

Alphaletz does not appear on HMRC's list of software recognised for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, checked 27 July 2026, so it cannot submit your quarterly updates or final declaration. Its own site describes keeping digital receipts so you are "ready for Making Tax Digital" rather than claiming recognition. Landlord Studio is HMRC-recognised, with MTD submissions included on its Pro plan (from £12/month billed annually) and available at £5 per submission on its free plan.

How much does Alphaletz cost compared to Landlord Studio?

As of July 2026, Alphaletz is free for 3 units, with Pro at £11/month billed annually (£14 monthly) for 10 units and Pro Plus at £24/month billed annually (£29 monthly) for 25 units, all excluding VAT, plus £1.40 per extra unit. Landlord Studio is free for up to 3 properties, with Pro from £12/month billed annually (£15 monthly) and £1 per extra unit on annual billing. Pricing is close; the difference is that Landlord Studio includes HMRC-recognised MTD filing.

What is the difference between Alphaletz and Landlord Studio?

Both track income and expenses by property, connect bank feeds and manage documents and tenancies. Alphaletz is strongest on compliance document storage and expiry alerts, and prepares figures for an accountant to file. Landlord Studio adds HMRC-recognised MTD submissions so you can file yourself, plus rental listings, applications and tenant screening, which Alphaletz does not offer.

Does Alphaletz work for HMO landlords?

Yes, Alphaletz tracks information per room as well as per property, which suits HMOs. Be aware that it charges per unit rather than per property at £1.40 per extra unit, so a small number of multi-let properties can use up the 3-unit free tier quickly. Landlord Studio also supports room-level tracking and charges £1 per extra unit on annual billing.

Can I switch from Alphaletz to Landlord Studio?

Yes. Export your income and expense history from Alphaletz, import it into Landlord Studio via CSV, and connect your bank accounts. Most landlords are set up within a day. A 14-day free trial of Pro is included with no credit card required, and the free plan covering up to 3 properties has no time limit.
